Site badges
Tracker-free, checked with Bianex
You followed this badge from a website. Here is what it means, what it doesn’t, and how a site gets one.
What it means
Someone opened the page in Bianex with its ad and tracker blocking on and its filter lists loaded (the lists ad blockers share, EasyList and EasyPrivacy among them), and nothing the page loaded was on them: no ads, no trackers, nothing known to be harmful. Bianex then offered a badge saying so, and the site put it on the page.
The badge’s words give the day of that check, for example “Tracker-free, checked with Bianex on 17 October 2026”. Screen readers read them out, and they show wherever the picture can’t.
What it doesn’t mean
- It isn’t a certificate or an audit. Bianex checked one page, once, on the day the badge gives.
- Pages change. The page may load trackers now, and the site’s other pages may never have been checked.
- A browser sees what a page loads. What a site does on its own servers, or with what you send it, is beyond any browser’s reach.
- Filter lists name the trackers people have found. Something new, or tracking a site runs from its own address, may not be on them yet.
- Anyone can copy a badge. Bianex keeps no register of them and can’t vouch for one; to know, check the page in Bianex yourself.
Nothing loads, nobody is counted
The badge’s picture is written into the site’s own page: seeing it loads nothing from Bianex, and nobody is counted. This page has no analytics, sets no cookies and loads nothing from other sites. The website is hosted by GitHub Pages, whose servers note visitors’ IP addresses for security, as most hosts do.
For people who run a site
- Open a page of your site in Bianex for Windows.
- If Bianex stopped nothing on it, click the shield in the address field and choose “A badge for this site…”.
- Pick the light or the dark badge and copy its code into your page. It is a link to this page around the picture; nothing in it runs, loads or counts.
If the page changes, check it again: a badge says what Bianex found on its day.
